Straya
Australians often forget how beautiful our country is, and many of us (exhibit a) constantly desire a one-way ticket out of here. But every year, after each trip overseas, my appreciation for this motherland grows. Staying put this Summer allowed me to explore and see sights of Sydney that I've never before seen. You may think the coast looks the same here and there, but I'm certain it will take your breath away every time.
Seeing the ocean from above was no longer enough for me, so I decided to get my SCUBA license! Initially breathing underwater was extremely uncomfortable, but after you see what is below us, you forget about all your worries and you breathe like you've been doing it your whole life. It was incredible when a camouflaged wobbegong shark scurried away beneath me. And when the resident blue grouper came swimming right up to my mask - I just wanted to hug it, but that is a definite no no. I can not explain the feelings of happiness and excitement after resurfacing. My current only desire is to go for a dive, swim with some fish and really just can not wait to discover what else is below us in that vast ocean which provides us with life.
I don't have any photos from diving, which calls for an addition to the shopping list - gopro. But I do have photos of Turrimetta Beach the same week. If you get a chance, definitely give this hidden gem a visit. The beach backs onto these beautiful rock shelves covered in green shrubs and moss. If you get a spot underneath, just chuck down your towel and let the view take you away. A Feed is always in need after a beach session, so I chucked in a photo of our delicious salami and roasted veggies sandwich with my favourite acai smoothie from Oceans cafe opposite Narrabean beach. It might be the best tasting acai smoothie I have had to date.
